Billing and Accounts

Each site has a few key roles that are worth explaining since they will likely become part of the designer's workflow process. They are described below:

Account Owner

Every TypeRoom Professional account has an account owner. This is the person who pays the bill and they are always granted rights as an administrator. In order to accept billing for a TypeRoom Professional site a person must be flagged as the Account Owner.

The Account Owner can be managed by going to the "Dashboard" link in the CMS, then going to the "Account/Billing" section of that site. On that page is a function for Transferring the account ownership and billing.

Of note is that you can only transfer the ownership of a site to a person who is already linked to your CMS.

The "Designer" Role

Whoever first created the site is considered the designer of that site. The main significance of this role is the "branding rights" that this user has. Once a designer creates a site in TypeRoom Professional, the designer's chosen logo and color scheme is applied to that CMS from that point forward. (This applies even if the designer becomes unlinked from that site.)

How To Transfer Billing to the Client

Usually when creating a site, the designer will usually have the the site on a free plan. When it's time to upgrade, they will then transfer it to the client. To do this:

  1. Make sure the new account owner is linked to the site
  2. Go to Dashboard > Account/Billing for that site.
  3. Under the "Transfer Account Ownership and Billing" section, select the new owner and click "Transfer Account".
  4. An email will be generated inviting the new user to become the new owner. This must be clicked on in order to accept the new ownership. (Check spam filters if there is a problem receiving this email, or add "typeroom.com" to your address book).

In the case where one paying user is transferring to another user will be taking over the payments, the payment schedule simply continues as scheduled and the new account owner's credit card will be billed at the next scheduled interval.

Accounts and Your Dashboard

On your dashboard, accounts that you own appear in the top section of the screen and accounts that you are linked to are shown in the lower section of the list.

You can remove yourself from linked accounts directly from the dashboard using "unlink" link. To remove a site from the "owned websites" list, you must either transfer the ownership to somebody else or delete the site.
