Pre-formatted Content

Pre-formatted content allows non-technical users to re-use complex content layouts over and over just by dragging and dropping them into their content.

Creating Pre-Formatted Content

To create a new pre-formatted content item, navigate to the "Advanced Editor" and find the "Preformatted Content" section.

Click "Add", and then just type in or copy and pasted your HTML into this region. Give it a name, and hit save.

Refresh TypeRoom (by hitting the refresh button) and your pre-formatted content will be available for drag-and-drop placement into the editor.

Using Pre-Formatted Content

Once a pre-formatted content item has been created in the Advanced Editor, it can be accessed through the "Insert Pre-formatted Content" option on the Insert dropdown.

Once the content has been inserted into place, it will be surrounded with a special border indicating it is a pre-formatted content block. Clicking anywhere in this block will make the "Remove" link at the top so that you can remove this layout block without affecting other parts of the content.

Repeating Pre-Formatted Content

A common use of pre-formatted content is for repeating elements. Take, for example, a photo gallery page that has several photos with unique layouts on that one page. If the client tries to add more custom galleries, they are likely going to mess something up (even if they try copying and pasting). Dragging and dropping a series of pre-formatted content elements is a perfect solution for this type of editing scenario.
